THE RACE CAR, REIMAGINED

5 Pounds Per Horsepower. Pure Engineering Art.

Built for Speed

Every component tells a story of innovation. From the Suzuki Hayabusa four-cylinder dry sump motorcycle engine to the six-speed sequential gearbox and quad differential, each part was chosen for maximum performance. But the real magic happened in the details—Zeus fasteners and aircraft hardware ensure every panel can be removed for service, while Kevlar-lined fenders eliminate rock damage without adding weight.

Meet the Team

The Craftsmen Behind the Vision.

When you work on a project for 10 years with truly exceptional craftsmen, something magical happens. What started as an ambitious experiment became more than just a race car morphed into a hot rod—it forged lifelong bonds between masters of their craft. Each brought their unique expertise to solve challenges that had never been tackled before. The result? A machine that defies convention and friendships that last.

Simon Leach

From New Zealand with old-school craftsmanship in his DNA, Simon saw the Radical chassis and knew immediately: “We’ve got great bones underneath—this will be fabulous.” His greatest challenge? Making every panel removable like a jigsaw puzzle while maintaining structural integrity. Simon’s obsession with perfection meant going to bed and waking up thinking about how it all fits together.

Jack Burns

With decades of experience crafting exhaust systems for dragsters, NASCAR, Trans Am, Formula Atlantic, Bonneville racers, boats, and even airplanes, Jack was the only choice for the Rad Rod’s unique challenge. He created a revolutionary adjustable muffler system with telescoping tubes that can be tuned to create entirely different sound signatures—transforming the typical motorcycle four-cylinder into something extraordinary.

Jack is also the founder of Parkway Ford Heritage Mission.

Jeb Greenstone

A master of build-from-scratch hot rod design, Jeb launched the Rad Rod project with innovative wireframe body construction. His approach eliminated traditional wooden bucks to preserve the integrity of the tube frame chassis. Jeb’s initial vision set the foundation for what would become a decade-long journey of automotive artistry.

Radical Motorsport

Founded as the world’s leading manufacturer of track day cars, Radical Motorsport created the original SR3 race car that became the foundation of our project. Since 1997, Radical has built over 3,000 race cars, earning recognition as the most successful manufacturer in international sports car racing. Their engineering excellence in lightweight construction and race-proven reliability made the 2003 SR3 the perfect starting point for our radical hot rod transformation—proving that great bones make great builds.

Jeff Welles

Jeff didn’t want to build just another hot rod. His vision was radical: start with a 2003 Radical SR3 race car and transform it into the ultimate street machine while keeping the legendary 5-pounds-per-horsepower ratio intact. Over 10 years, Jeff learned that the best solutions often come from trusting great craftsmen to surprise you—and they delivered beyond his wildest dreams.

Jeff is also the executive producer of the documentary, 32 Hours 7 Minutes. Watch it here (use code radrodsr3 for 20% off).
